We have 4 married children and we all have born again Christian homes, for which I am very thankful. We are delighted to see this passed down from generation to generation. I am a people person and love visiting, and helping them too, in any way I can. I love a good cup of hot tea with friends, neighbors, or family. Ed died a few days ago and I know everyone will remember his "Here's Johnny" from the Johnny Carson show. They were a great pair together and great friends as well. They worked so well together and Ed could ad lib as fast as Johnny. We miss Johnny too and now Ed is also gone. It seems there have been quite a few well-known deaths in just a few days. Bills Mays - Pitchman Dead

Another big shock! I have seen Billy Mays every day for so long, I just can't believe he is dead. He always had so much happy enthusiasm for the products he pitched on television. I am so sorry for his family. What a terrible shock to find your husband unresponsive when he was fine the night before. I think the autopsy will be very interesting since he was hit on the head. A doctor said today they didn't think that caused the problem and perhaps it was his heart. He was only 50 which is comparatively young depending on your age for comparison. I have boys older than that. We'll miss him.

What a shock to everyone to learn of Michael's death. He was only 50. That is really quite young these days. Everyone is awaiting the autopsy results. So many people are putting memorials everywhere in honor of him. Labels: death, Michael Jackson
It reminds me so much of when Elvis died. He died much too young also. People have never forgotten him and I don't think they will ever forget Michael Jackson either. He made quite an impression on the world in the short life he lived. I hope his children will have a good life in view of all that has happened in the past.
Family Reunion

On July 5th, we are having a family reunion of sorts. The families of two brothers practically grew up together and have been having get-togethers on the birthday of one of their fathers for several years now. That Dad passed on this Spring but the reunion is going to continue on what was his birthday, July 5th, as long as the younger ones want it to.
Each one brings a dish to share and the host barbeques lots of meat for all. He has 4-wheelers that the kids of all ages take turns riding and the older ones sit around and eat and reminisce about the good times they had while growing up. A good time is always had by all and there are always new babies too to hold and cuddle.

Elvis and Graceland

Many years ago, we took a trip to Memphis with my husband's brother and his wife. We spent quite awhile in Memphis and went to Graceland. Elvis was still alive at that time and his airplane was sitting in the airport when we flew in. There was a gate at the front of Graceland and they said there were sharpshooters in the trees in case anyone tried to climb the fence or break in.
Today it is a museum and showplace. Our daughter and her husband and sons were able to travel there and go through it and they said it was really something to see and would always remember. It is great that the public is able to enjoy it now. Elvis did alot for Memphis while he was alive.

Major Surgery

My husband is recovering from major surgery. He had colon cancer and they got it all. He doesn't even have to have any follow up treatments and that is such a blessing. It is taking time to recover but his appetite is returning now and that is a great sign. Labels: Anniversary Family, surgery, weather
He had a less major surgery last Thursday and he is really beginning to recover from that also. He is still on pain pills but think it will be a week tomorrow and he should start feeling less pain too. He walks outside every day and is getting his strength back. It would be good if it would just stop raining so he could be outside more.

Activist Calls for Gay Rights March

In Salt Lake City, Utah, an activist, who worked alongside slain gay rights leader, Harvey Milk, announced his plans Sunday for a march on Washington this fall. He wants to demand that Congress establish equality and marriage rights for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. The march is planned for October 11 and will coincide with National Coming Out Day and launch a new chapter in the gay rights movement. Baghdad, Iraq - 5 Americans Detained

Jim Kitterman, age 60, a construction company owner from Houston, Texas, was found blindfolded, bound and stabbed to death on May 22 in his car in the Green Zone. The men being detained are employed by Corporate Training Unlimited, a security company based in Fayetteville, North Carolina. It will be interesting to see how this case turns out.

Baby's Death Leads to Charges

I heard about this story yesterday on Fox News. They found a woman in her house with a dead baby boy. She claimed the baby was hers and had died. She was being held on bail in Oregon afte the Police came to her home and found the body of a woman who had been pregnant and was found in her home. Labels: dead baby, Murder, woman arrested
Doctors were unable to revive the baby. So sad. They determined that the woman who had called had not given birth but had killed the baby's mother and stuffed her dead body in a crawl space. That is just horrible. There just isn't any feelings anymore for life.

What do you think of a topless coffee shop? If you are a waitress there, you had better be careful delivering that hot coffee to your customers :0). But it wasn't so funny though when a Maine topless coffee shop was destroyed by fire. He is saying that he is going to have clothed waitresses collect donations in the parking lot to raise enough money to rebuild. Someone deliberately set the fire that burned down the coffee shop. This happened just 5 hours after the owner talked to local officials about making the business a strip club. Apparently, someone didn't like the idea, did they? Our grandson is graduating in Philadephia with his Masters Degree this next week. A lot of our family and his wife's family are traveling there for the graduation. Her sister lives in Philly with her husband and 3 little girls so they will get to visit them too. I hope the weather is good and I am sure they will do some shopping too. New York will be their first stop, I understand taking the trains. They are going to do some touring and then off to Washington D.C. for more touring. But also the will be able to tour the famous city in Pennsylvania. What a great trip. They have from today throughout the whole week and back next Sunday. New York is one place I have always wanted to see. Our oldest son and his wife have been there too and to Niagara Falls.
