About Me
We have 4 married children and we all have born again Christian homes, for which I am very thankful. We are delighted to see this passed down from generation to generation. I am a people person and love visiting, and helping them too, in any way I can. I love a good cup of hot tea with friends, neighbors, or family. And now blogging has become my latest passion, many thanks to a wonderful grandson. May you all find the joy, peace and happiness in our Lord Jesus Christ that I have found.

Mexico Red Cross Fundraiser
Posted by clare3
Men seized a man and wounded three bystanders with wild gunshots during a Red Cross fundraiser. Police said the armed men had raided the central plaza of the Mexican tourist town of Taxco. According to the Guerrero State Public Security agency, the attackers grabbed a man from the crowd as the city's mayor launched Thursday's midday charity event in front of the famed Santa Prisca church. That must have been quite scary. Labels: Current Events, Mexico, Red Cross, Taxco town attackers
The Police say they do not know who was seized and are hunting for the attackers. The attackers fled while firing bursts from an automatic rifle, causing minor wounds to three bystanders. Of course, the Red Cross event was suspended. Taxco is a mining town in the mountains south of Mexico City that is famed for jewelry and colorful scenery.
Natasha Richardson Dead

Natasha Richardson, age 45, died due to a skiing accident on the easiest (bunny) slope. The Tony Award winning actress died of a brain injury according to the autopsy report on Thursday. They thought she was fine, but she complained about a headache. They found she had bleeding between the skull and the brain's covering. If she had been wearing a helmet it might have saved her life, but who knows for sure? Her death, of course, was ruled accidental. The sad part to it, also, is that she leaves 2 children behind. Coupon Clipping

Do you clip coupons out of the Sunday paper? I do. I thought I was doing pretty good with coupons until I found out some of my grandchildren are really doing well with it. They clipped enough coupons and went out shopping and bought over $140 worth of food and products and only paid a little over $20 for all of it with their coupons. That is enough to make you pay more attention to those coupons, isn't it? Just look at all the stuff they got and how much money they saved.
Jennifer Aniston Wants to be a Bond Girl
Posted by clare3
Determined to land herself an action role now that she's turning 40, Jennifer Aniston dreams of starring opposite Daniel Craig as a Bond girl. She has starred in a string of romantic comedies on the big screen but now she is desperate to test her action movie credentials. Labels: 007 Bond girl, high hopes, Jennifer Aniston
She insists her ideal part would be a feisty femme fatale alongside Craig in 007's next outing. That sounds like a very exciting part for her to play. She has been telling Elle magazine that she gets offered funny, quirky, petty roles, and she would love to do an action movie. I hope she gets her chance to do this.

Pets

Our little dog, Holly, a Boston Terrier, is the best little pet we have had yet. She is 10 years old now and just got all her shots. She likes to join me for breakfast, begging for a bit of cereal. She keeps "talking" to me until I give her a little bit. I know they aren't supposed to eat "people" food but it doesn't disagree with her and she doesn't get a whole lot but she enjoys keeping me company while I eat my breakfast.
I wish she would learn English because it would sure be fun to have her speak to us in English. As it is, we are pretty much able to figure out just what she wants from the sounds she makes. She's funny.

Oil Shale Leasing Scrapped
Posted by clare3
In a second reversal of the Bush administration, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said he is scrapping leases for oil-shale development on federal land in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. That is really too bad, because from what we have seen and heard on television, there is enough oil there to supply the United States. Labels: Current Events, oil-shale development
Salazar rescinded a lease offer made last month for research, development and demonstration projects that could have led to oil-shale works on 1.9 million acres in the three states. This would greatly expand the program. It is almost as though they do not want the United States to become independent. We send billions of dollars for oil to countries that hate us and yet we do nothing to help ourselves.

Indonesia Psychedelic Fish is New Species

A funky, psychedelic fish that bounces on the ocean floor like a rubber ball, has been classified as a new species. The frogfish, which has tan and peach zebra stripes, was initially discovered by scuba diving instructors a year ago in shallow waters of Ambon Island in eastern Indonesia. I think this is really interesting because I love to see all the fish under the sea and all their many colors.
The tour operator contacted Ted Pietsch, lead author of a paper published in this month's edition of Copeia, the journal of the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists, submitted DNA work identifying it as a new species. This fish has fins on both sides of its body that have evolved to be leg-like. Each time the fish strike the seabed they push off with fins and expel water from tiny gill openings to jet themselves forward. That must be neat to watch. That, and an off-centered tail, causes them to bounce around in a bizarre, chaotic manner.
