About Me

We have 4 married children and we all have born again Christian homes, for which I am very thankful. We are delighted to see this passed down from generation to generation. I am a people person and love visiting, and helping them too, in any way I can. I love a good cup of hot tea with friends, neighbors, or family. And now blogging has become my latest passion, many thanks to a wonderful grandson. May you all find the joy, peace and happiness in our Lord Jesus Christ that I have found.

Husbands

Posted by clare3

Husbands can be good or bad or inbetween. I have a great husband and we will soon celebrate another anniversary. However, today we are celebrating his birthday. He didn't get to celebrate his birthday when he was young as they had a family of 12 kids and it was hard for his folks to make ends meet. His dad had to work a poor farm but kept them all in clothes and fed. However, they didn't get to celebrate their birthdays with cake and ice cream the way we do today. So I have tried to have many surprise parties for him over the years and now our children surprise him on some of the major birthdays. And he really appreciates every one. I have often said I wish we could go back in time and have him live along side me and do all the things I got to do, the presents I got, the games we played and all the fun we had. He had to work hard on the farm all his life until he left home. Not a happy story.

Praise and Worship Team

Posted by clare3

Our granddaughter is on the Praise and Worship Team in their church. She has a beautiful voice and made a CD for us. That way we can play it in the car too, coming and going from church, shopping, etc. It is her birthday today too. She is 22 today. She wants to become a writer and has written her first book. I don't think she has tried to publish it yet but who knows, maybe she will be a famous author someday. She is busy in college right now and working at a job that is part of her college training.

Posted by clare3

It is time for another birthday celebration. Our one grandson turns 23 today. Where have the years gone? He is over a foot taller than I am. I am very short. He is even taller than his dad. He is busy in college now again along with his brother and a good friend. We won't get to see him on his birthday but we can email. everyone sends Ecards these days. I know I like to send them and I like to get them too.

Church Greeters

Posted by clare3

We are Greeters at church once a month. Sometimes we are Greeters twice if it is a 5 week month. It is a great way to see everyone and get acquainted with new people. We have two entrances and we are at the one where the families bring in their children for the nursery and Children's church. The children are all excited that go into the 5-12 yr group that have puppets and a whole lot more. The nursery is always full because we seem to have lots of new babies all the time. My husband ushers too at times when someone is on vacation. He enjoys that also.

Sarah Palin

Posted by clare3

What do you think of Sarah Palin? I think she is just wonderful. She has such a wonderful family. And her husband is devoted to her. She has a little Downs syndrome baby she didn't abort. That puts her on the top of my list as I do not believe in abortion. She has done a great job as Mayor and then Governor in Alaska. She has plenty of good ideas and it is time for fresh ideas. Sometimes, I think they should let the whole entire House and Senate go and elect all new people. But I better not get started on that.

C S I

Posted by clare3

Do you like this type of program? I just love them. There are three of them and I watch them all. There is a different cast of characters in each one and in different towns and they interact differently so all three are very good. I guess the first CSI was my favorite but CSI Miami comes in 2nd and CSI NY is great too with Gary Senise. I love watching how they catch the criminals through the smallest clues. They can get a fingerprint off almost anything these days. And with DNA now, it is hard for a criminal not to leave his DNA at a crime scene. Now they have re-runs on Saturday night sometimes, so I catch up on any I missed.

Applebees

Posted by clare3

Applebees is one of our most favorite restaurants. They have the best house sirloin steak smothered in a gravy of onions and mushrooms. It is always packed out on Saturday night and we like to eat early, therefore, we go very early. If we can get there before 5 p. m., we can watch the people crowd in within 10 minutes. And there will be standing room only and many sitting, waiting for their reservation to come up. We usually almost have to fight our way through the crowd to get out when we are done but it is sure worth the trip.

Mexican Supper

Posted by clare3

It is Wednesday and the night we go for a Mexican supper. It is TexMex night at a favorite restaurant both on Wednesday and Thursday nights. So if something comes up and we can't make it on Wednesday, we can go the next night. They have a regular menu on Thursdays along with it so you can choose from that too. They have started having really good smoothies to go along with your meals too. And it is Ala Carte so you can pick and choose what you want. It is always good food and very fast and good service. The waitresses are like old friends to us.

Anniversaries

Posted by clare3

I just bought a bunch of Anniversary cards. It seems like we have a great many anniversaries to celebrate this time of the year. There are also a few 50th anniversaries to attend. The Open Houses are fun to go to as you see so many people there that you haven't seen for awhile. I really love mailing out cards. I don't mind the cost of postage. It is cheaper than gas to travel those many miles and even cheaper than phone calls, although I like to make those too. I know people love to get cards as much as I love to send them.

Sunday, The Day of Rest

Posted by clare3

Sunday used to be the day of rest but not any more. Now we go shopping, visiting, traveling, and making big meals or picnics. Many people have to work on Sundays now too. First comes church though and we look forward to going to church Sunday mornings. We usually have a light lunch and a larger meal at night. I know that is backward from the way you are supposed to do it but that is the way we have done it for a great many years. Years ago, we had a big meal both at noon and at night. I don't know how we did it or where we put all that food. Oh yes, maybe I do know where it went when I look in the mirror :0).

Anemia

Posted by clare3

I was diagnosed with anemia awhile back. Now I have to have fasting blood tests every 6 months to see how I am doing. I found a compounding pharmacist that told me if I would take some Vitamin B complex with liver and iron that he had in the store, that it would build up my blood. He was right. It also has other good vitamins in it but my anemia is under control and the last time I went to the doctor she said I did not have it anymore. The pharmacist is a wise man. As long as I take those pills 3 times a day, I am fine.

Uncle Bob

Posted by clare3

Today would have been my Uncle Bob's birthday. He died of cancer just too young. He had esophageal cancer and for awhile it looked like they would cure it. I got to go down and visit him while he was still feeling fairly well. I am really glad I took off work and went to see him. Now he is gone, and I have no regrets that I put work first because I did take off and get to visit with him while he could still visit with me. He was a very smart man. In the Army, they sent him to Aberdeen, Maryland to West Point where he taught Majors and Generals. He said that was quite an experience for a Corporal but he was very intelligent. He is missed greatly by all.
