About Me
We have 4 married children and we all have born again Christian homes, for which I am very thankful. We are delighted to see this passed down from generation to generation. I am a people person and love visiting, and helping them too, in any way I can. I love a good cup of hot tea with friends, neighbors, or family. And now blogging has become my latest passion, many thanks to a wonderful grandson. May you all find the joy, peace and happiness in our Lord Jesus Christ that I have found.
Fall Weather
Posted by clare3
We are having some fall weather and it is still 3 weeks off yet. It makes you think that winter is going to be early this year. It was a cold wet Spring and a not so hot summer and now it is kind of cool for this time of year. Usually we have what they call the "dog days of summer" where it is so hot, even the dogs can't stand it. At least that is what I think they mean. We usually have the air conditioner running continuously but we have been able to open windows and air out the house. That is really nice and good sleeping too. Labels: cool, fall weather
Birthday Parties
Posted by clare3
The neighbors have 4 children and they all have birthdays quite close together. They open the garage door and hang a big "Happy Birthday" banner over the doorway. Then all the grandparents, cousins, and a few neighbors all come and have hamburgers on the grill. Then they serve cake and ice cream. The children really have a great time and sometimes they dress the girls like a princess. I think it is great for the whole family to get together, don't you? Gall Bladders
Posted by clare3
Gall bladders are great when they work. However, when they get full of stones, then they have to come out. I had laparoscopic surgery to have my gall bladder out. What a big improvement over the big incisions it used to take to remove the gall bladder. I had two stones the size of very large marbles and just as hard. It is funny I never had any pains before. My daughter had a great many stones the size of sand and they told her each one of those could cause a gall bladder attack. She had several really bad attacks before her surgery. At that time, she had to have the big old incision. It has sure improved today. Labels: attacks, gall bladders, stones
Cataract Surgery
Posted by clare3
My sister-in-law is going to have a cataract removed today. She has had trouble with it for years. I told her to drop her old tie eye doctor and go to the great eye clinic we have just 10 miles from her. She did that. She said as soon as the doctor took one look at her he said the cataract was ready to come out and set her up with an appointment for surgery. She was sure glad she changed doctors and clinics. They say if you have an old doctor, dump him. Get a new one who is up-to-date on everything. It really pays off in the long run. Labels: cataract surgery
Grandchildren
Posted by clare3
We are going with our daughter and her husband up to see our granddaughter and her husband today. They have the cutest little girl and she is 10 months old already. She is trying to walk by pulling herself up to the furniture. They are so cute when they do start walking because they are so little, it just doesn't seem possible. They have a beautiful home and decorated so well. I just love their summer porch and they have lots of shade. We are going to church with them this morning so have to get going early. Rose's Beauty Shop
Posted by clare3
Time to go visit Rose at the Beauty Shop. She is getting right up there in years. She is 90 now and beginning to get a little forgetful. However, she really does good for her age. She lives in the back of the beauty shop so the girls out front working can come back and have their lunch with her and visit. She keeps the towels washed up and folded for the beauty shop. She was an operator herself until her back wouldn't take it anymore. She is quite a lady. I love her. Labels: beauty shop, good friend, Rose
Back to Work
Posted by clare3
Here it is Monday again and it is back to work for most people. The weekend went so fast didn't it? The weather was good and we got a lot done around the house. Went to church and always enjoy that. Have good music and a good message and lots of hugs and handshakes. It carries you through some tough weeks and this week will be plenty busy as usual. Labels: back to work, church, weekends
Weekends
Posted by clare3
Here it is the weekend already. Where did the week go? They are having all kinds of exciting things in the park in a nearby town. Think we will go there and see the crafts, hear the music and eat. They always have a car show too. It is fun to see the cars that we had once upon a time. If we had known they would be so valuable, maybe we would have tried to keep them. Probably not though as my husband loves to trade cars.
"Waking the Dead"
Posted by clare3
It is Thursday and tonight is one of our favorite British movies, "Waking the Dead". It is about a cold case group that solves murders that are old. It comes on kind of late for me so I always set up the VCR so that I can watch part of it and then go to bed. Then the next day I can watch it here by the computer and see how it ends. It is always very interesting and sometimes I think the British have better programs than we do. We watch quite a few British mysteries. I love a good mystery as long as it isn't gory and gruesome. Holly to the Vet
Posted by clare3
I have to get Holly, our little Boston terrier, into the Vet to get her nails buzzed. They are getting way too long and I have been so busy I just haven't gotten her there on time. But we will get our appointment set up and she will be excited about riding in the car. All you have to do is get out her leash and she is ready to go. She gets a treat too when she gets back and also at the Vets. It's kind of hot today and she starts panting so I'll turn on the A/C in the car.
Grocery Shopping
Posted by clare3
Today is the big day that I do most of my grocery shopping for the month. The store has remodeled with new registers and new grocery carts too. They are much bigger and I am able to fill it to capacity. Sometimes they ask me at the register if I am shopping for a month and I say yes. It is great to fill up the cupboards. We are so blessed in this country to have the money to go to the store, but even more blessed because the stores have food on the shelves for us to buy. Many countries cannot say the same.
Church
Posted by clare3
Time for church and we have an exciting church. We have Praise and Worship team that is unequalled. We love to sing, raise our hands unto the Lord and some dance to the music. We always have a hip Gospel video along with the offering and all the music is upbeat. We have some really skilled musicians. Our electronic keyboard player is an accomplished classical pianist. Our pastors are both young, with grown children though and a couple of grandchildren. Everyone is church is like family. Loving and giving and always ready with a handshake or hug. Labels: church, great Praise and Worship music
Birthday
Posted by clare3
Today is my birthday. You will never guess how old I am and I am not telling. It is going to be a fun day. Going to lunch with my good friend and daughter and husband. Then my husband and I will go out to supper at a favorite restaurant that gives you your steak dinner free on your birthday. You can't beat that, now can you? It is a beautiful sunny summer day and a great day to celebrate another day of life. I hope you are having as great a day as I am. Labels: birthday, guess my age
