About Me
We have 4 married children and we all have born again Christian homes, for which I am very thankful. We are delighted to see this passed down from generation to generation. I am a people person and love visiting, and helping them too, in any way I can. I love a good cup of hot tea with friends, neighbors, or family. And now blogging has become my latest passion, many thanks to a wonderful grandson. May you all find the joy, peace and happiness in our Lord Jesus Christ that I have found.
Best Friend's Birthday
Posted by clare3
Two more days and it is my Best Friend's birthday. It is also my birthday. She is one year younger than I am. When we were kids, she and I hung out together every single day and her brother hung out with my brother. We used to play all kinds of games and her brother taught me to play chess with him. I got pretty good at it. He was so smart we used to think he was going to be another Einstein because he would talk about the theory of relativity and he sounded like he knew what he was talking about. My best friend has moved to Colorado now but we still keep in touch on our birthdays and Christmas and always will. Labels: best friend, birthdays
Wash Day
Posted by clare3
Monday is wash day or at least it used to be. In years past, we used to wash on Monday and iron on Tuesday and Wednesday. Then clean on Thursday. Fridays were for grocery shopping and Saturdays were kind of a day off. That is, unless the lawn needed mowing again and yard needed trimming in various places. Now I wash on Mondays sometimes and sometimes on other days. With clothes dryers, you don't have to wait for a sunny day, you can wash any time and I love that.
Lawn Mowing - Again?
Posted by clare3
Yes, it is time to mow the lawn again. I feel like we just mowed it and it is time to do it again. With a few rains, this time of the year, the grass grows overnight. I really do not like to mow at all. If I could wiggle my noise and have it all done, I would. My mower is old but I am used to it and it mulches up everything it mows so you don't see windrows on the lawn. I think mulching is good fertilizer too for the lawn. Labels: lawn mowing, mulching
Friday Night Fish Fry
Posted by clare3
This week we are going to the Friday Night Fish Fry at the Knights of Columbus. They always have a good hot, fresh buffet. It is very reasonable too. All you can eat for $7.50 each. You can go back as often as you wish. Take all you want they say, but eat all you take. That is a good policy to follow for anyone. I hate to see people take lots of food and then not eat it. We Americans are really spoiled, aren't we? Labels: fish fry
Let's Go Bowling
Posted by clare3
Let's go bowling tonight. The bowling alley is usually not as busy tonight. They have a good restaurant too and a great menu. Plus they have a wonderful salad bar that has just everything or you can take in the whole buffet. It is not that far away and it will be a nice change from our usual routine. I'm not very good at bowling but my husband does pretty well. It will be a lot of fun.
VFW Steak Night
Posted by clare3
Tonight is the VFW's steak night. They have an especially good menu tonight. This is a small town and we do not have a great many choices of where we can eat. Most of the time, we head for the big city where all the restaurants are. I think next week we will head there for Mexican as they have several very good Mexican restaurants and we just love Mexican food - American style. You can get a sit down meal or a quick meal or carry out. It is your choice, but you have lots of choices. Labels: Mexican restaurants, steak night, VFW
Pizza Night
Posted by clare3
It is pizza night and we love to go on this night as it is kids night too. Each parent that brings a child, gets to have the child eat free. It is so cute to see the really little ones all excited over their pizza. It seems most kids like cheese pizza best. I like the one that has everything on it. My husband goes for the beef or sausage. Not much excitement in those for me. The dessert pizza is really good too especially if we ask for peach or apples to be added to it.
Home Improvement
Posted by clare3
Have you been making any home improvements? We had some windows that were not sealed any more and the moisture was getting inbetween the glass. It was irritating not to be able to see out the windows and see the birds feeding at the feeders and in winter, watch the snow flying by. So we finally called and got a man who came out and replaced the window panes. It cost us a great deal less than if we had purchased new windows and now we can see out again. Dentists
Posted by clare3
Everyone loves to go to the dentist, don't they - NOT. Why is it we dread it so? I don't any more but my best friend is always scared to go and she never changes. Once she has gone and is back to work, she is fine and wonders why she was scared to go. I think dentists have changed so much over the years. They are kinder and gentler and have more equipment to put you at ease and without any pain at all. So I don't mind going any more and it feels so good to have your teeth nice and clean.
A Lick and a Promise
Posted by clare3
A lick and a promise was my Mom's saying for a hurry up job of housecleaning. That is what I have been doing. Clean a little here. Clean a little there and hope for more time to get into deep cleaning later. It always feels so good when you do a really good job on the vinyl floors and they shine back at you. And to get all the rugs washed and put back down feels good too. But dusting is something I just hate. It has helped that they have invented dusters to make it quicker and easier but I still hate it. I think sometimes if we just let the dust go, we would disappear from the earth eventually under the dust. Labels: dusting, housecleaning
4th of July
Posted by clare3
Here it is the 4th of July!!. We went out and bought new lawn chairs to take to the fireworks. They have wonderful padding on the seats and backs but yet they are light enough to carry around. Our old ones were getting so thin, I was almost afraid I would sit down and find myself on the ground. We love to go to a nearby town where they have the #1 ground display of fireworks in our State. We have gone quite a few years now and are never disappointed. They put on a Grand Finale that is indescribable. It takes you by surprise if it is your first time there. Just when you think they are done and many fold up their seats and start to leave, then they set off the entire football field. It is a sight you won't forget.

Here it is July already and it is nearly time to celebrate the 4th of July. My grandson's birthday is today. I can't believe how time flies by. It seems like our own kids were his age just yesterday. It is hard to keep up with them and I have to be sure I have them all written on the calendar so I don't forget to get the Birthday cards out to them. They look forward to that and we enjoy sending them too.
